Physician Assistant Jobs Salaries for 2014
Whether a hospital needs physician assistant jobs filled or a professional is searching for the right employment, one of the first questions we get asked is how much do Physician Assistants earn. We’re not being coy when we accurately state that it depends on the location and employer. To objectively answer that question, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics compiles a report every year that details wages for jobs across the country, including PAs. The following info comes from their latest release.
· The country’s 88,110 physician assistants averaged $94,350 per year, or $45.36 per hour. The top earners received over $130,620 annually, or $62.80 hourly. Those at the other end got less than $62,030 a year, or $29.82 an hour. These figures are far higher than the $46,440 per year averaged by all jobs in all industries.
· Most PAs found work in doctor’s offices with earnings at a mean $94,890 per year, or $45.62 per hour. General and surgical hospitals were next for jobs, averaging $95,590 annually, or $45.96 hourly. The highest salaries were in employment services at a mean annual $103,710, or $49.86. Ranking second for pay were home health services, averaging $102,640 a year, or $49.35 an hour.
· In terms of location, New York offered the most jobs, with compensation at a mean $97,660 yearly, or $46.95 hourly. Rhode Island was the top paying state, averaging $110,660 per annum, or $53.17 per hour. For cities, New York boasted the highest employment and mean pay of $100,540 annually, or $48.33 hourly. Vero Beach, Florida topped the city pay list with a mean $167,440 a year, or $80.48 an hour.
